Jungle Justice Is No Justice

Jungle justice has become gradually, a part of our societal ills.
Almost on a daily basis in Nigeria, someone is killed through jungle justice.
It is an extrajudicial killing that ordinarily, would have no place in civilized societies, but which we have welcomed as a normal way of punishing 'innocent' criminals.
The law stipulates that an accused person is deemed innocent until otherwise proven to be guilty in a competent court of law.
Also, it is an offence to take the life of another, without it being the order of a court of law.
People carry out jungle justice for several reasons. One if them is the non-challance and inadequacies of the police force. The force on several occasions, carries out shoddy investigations when apprehended criminals are handed over to them. This enables the criminals to get back into town without having been adequately prosecuted.
This has over time, enraged locals and they have lost faith in the police force. They now prefer to mete out punishments to apprehended criminals themselves before the police would let them go on flimsy grounds and they would come back to continue terrorizing the community.
This of course, has its disadvantages and they sure outweigh the advantages.
Many innocent people have been lynched by irate mobs over mere allegations of criminal activities. No one bothers to investigate the said crime or even hear the sides of the accused. To them, once accused, you are deemed guilty and the punishment is death.,
They stone some to death, beat others with clubs and sticks and even burn the rest!.
I have not ceased to wonder as to the kind of person that can simply put a tire tube around a fellow human's neck and douse the person with petrol before setting the person on fire.
Oh how hardened our hearts have become!
Jungle justice has now become a way of punishing enemies or competitors. Some people connive to accuse their enemies and competitors and have them killed for nothing.
I just think of how we have become so inhuman to our fellow humans and I just don't get it!!!.
People get killed for stealing little things now. You steal a cube of Maggie in the market and you can be sure to get lynched. You dare to take the goat of your neighbor and forget it, you are getting roasted alive.
Our society forgets easily. One day we are protesting loudly, and the next day we keep quiet and condone the horrible acts.
If you have forgotten, I have not!
I still remember vividly, the video of the Aluu 4 boys killed in Port-harcourt. Oh how tears flowed from my eyes from watching the video. I couldn't finish watching it, of course.
Should i talk about how a boy of twelve was also gruesomely lynched for being an alleged 'kidnapper'? Or should I talk about the man who stole a goat during Sallah and was tied to the goat. How about the guys stoned to death for snatching a cell phone? Or the recent one that happened in Ejigbo, Lagos where the women had pepper and sticks up their private parts after being accused of stealing a basket of peppers. I realized watching the video was a horrible mistake as it wrenched my heart out. My eyes felt like the raw pepper had been rubbed in them because of the hot tears that welled up in them.
What happened to having a voice of reason in the midst of chaos?
The people who watch and capture these horrible events are guilty of the crimes too because they simply watch and DO NOTHING!
We aid the jungle justice cause when we do nothing.
The police even aids jungle justice in many cases.
What happened to the force being responsible to the citizens and awake to its responsibilities, which are to protect the citizens and maintain law and order, amongst other things?
Our leaders sit and do nothing about it also, as they are also as guilty as those being called criminals. Their hustle is to amass enough wealth while in power.
Those voltrons too that parade themselves on social media as 'activists' will only hash tag the fight for days and after that, move on to the next loud fight.
The battle is ours to fight.
Let he who is without sin be the first to cast the stone.
Give accused people an opportunity to be duly tried before a competent court of law.
Stop Jungle Justice Today!

What Would You Do?

Imagine this scenario.

Your boyfriend of two years takes you out on a romantic lunch date and during lunch, he starts praising you as being the best thing that has happened to him. He says a lot of flattering things and ends it by saying no other woman on earth can get his attention, besides you.
He drops on a knee and brings out a ring. You become so excited and you cover your eyes, girls' style, expecting to hear "Will You Marry Me?" but you hear nothing. You open your eyes and see your boyfriend staring at a lady with voluptuous buttocks passing by, in awe.

What would you do?

*hmmm this one na war oh

Let's Talk About Long Distance Relationships

Beyond the first few months of giddy affection and the feeling of butterflies, few, if any, romantice relationships are easy. Sure, some look that way, but that's usually because two willing people are putting in all the work behind the scenes.
Long distance relationships are even more dfifficult to maintain, and they can fail for numerous reasons. Many long distance relationships certainly succeed, but they require careful navigation from the people involved to steer thorugh the obstacles brought on by geography.
Long distance relationships are not just inter-country, they are also inter-city.
Many couples have long distance relationship because of circumstances beyond their control. Others choose it because they feel that they function better apart and they don't want a partner that will be all up in their face.
Long distance relationships typically does not have the best track record, but the fact remains that some long distance relationships can and do last. Steps to take before venturing into a long distance relationship vary with the type of induviduals involved. Things like level of trust, priorities, goals, beliefs, maturity, etc come into play.

Communication is one of the fundamentals of any successful relationship. It is also the foundation of any successful long distance relationship. It is one of the most vital aspects of keeping a long distance relationship alive.

Trust is highly essential in any relationship. To make a long distance relationship work, a higher level of trust has to be attained by both parties. It tends to be difficult if a partner is insecure or has had trust issues, or even still has them.
You have to establish a sense of trust and at the same time, maintain your fidelity amd honesty in the relationship.

Respect ypur partner. Do not get jealous to the extent of keeping tabs on all his/her movement. No one likes to be monitored.

The couple has to have a set time for their reunion. Maybe forthnightly or monthly. Setting a time and a goal for our reuniom will provide hope for your relationship, and in turn, solidify the promises made before separating.

Being in a long distance relationship is not a natural situation, so it needs to be treated with a fresh, unique outlook.

Some people in long distance relationships see it as an oppotunity for them to be free to do anything they want to do without being questioned.
Others in long distance relationships see themselves as 'single' the moment they separate from their partners.

Does being physically apart drive people emotionally apart?
Do things stay the way they used to be before the separation?
How do you maintain your long distance relationship?
Feel free to share.

Getting Rid Of Dark Armpits/Underams

Rapper Eva Alordiah has a flawless skin and she shared  her secrets with the ladies on her
blog
.. decided to share it here..Thank me later. She wrote..

I'm usually one to wear sleeveless shirts and spagetti or tank straps. For a long time, like a lot of young girls i know, i battled with darker underarms/armpits. Its like you go through puberty without exactly noticing how darker they have become until you are in your 20s and waiting for guys to toast you, forming fine geh.
Next thing you know you have become conscious of raising your hands high in public for fear of showing off eye-sore underarms.
For most of us, maybe all- dark underarms result from a number of factors.
Now, let me just point out how i have been able to brighten my underarms over time.

They are not exactly perfect yet, but they are getting there. And when they do, i sure wont be too shy to show off a couple of pictures to inspire you. Now here's what i do -

1.  Stop Using shaving sticks:  unfortunately if what you want is brighter underarms, you are going to have to do away with using shaving sticks. What happens when we shave is the hairs only get scraped off the surface of skin, leaving little stubbles here and there that could fold right back into the pose causing bumps and re-darkening of skin.

What i do : I use tweezers instead. As wack and painful as that sounds, yes i sit through 30mins to pluck hairs one after the other. When im not tweezing, i wax using Sugar wax. This method is known as sugaring' and you can do it yourself af home.
If you can't do this especially on your own, then you might want to try waxing at the spa once in a while. Tweezing/waxing is so much better because you get rid of hairs straight right off the roots which would even extend the time it would take for a regrowth.

Although hair removal creams are a great quick alternative to tweezing/waxing, some of these creams also include chemicals that could cause darkening of the skin. However my next steps would make it possible for you to still use hair removal creams.

2.  Exfoliate :  I can't possibly stress enough how important exfoliating is for the whole process of brightening your underarms. Exfoliating generally is one of my favorite things to do. Sometimes i just sit and scrub my whole body top to bottom.

When you exfoliate regularly you help your skin with cell turnover, making it easier to shed dead surface skin cells to reveal softer, newer skin over time.

What i do :  Sugar!! My fav little inexpensive thing. Sugar is one of the best things to use for exfoliating. For my underarms i use a good quantity of honey and sugar. I scrub in consistent circular motions 3minutes on both sides. Then i leave that on for 5-10minutes before washing off with warm water.

I exfoliate my underarms 3times every week.
If you use hair removal creams instead of waxing, ensure to exfoliate lightly immediately after.

3. Lime, raw Potatoes and Aloe vera:  As much as 5times a week i apply a good quantity of lime juice or rub my underarms with a raw potato slice and let it rest for 20mins. Sometimes i use lime as a moisturiser on my underarms and leave it on overnight. On days when i am home the whole day  or for long hours i use lime on my underarms and let it sit till i am ready to go out.

Lime and potatoes are good natural bleaching agents and they would help brighten your underarms in a short time with consistent use!
Choose one that is easily accesible or convinient for you or alternate between both.

NOTE:

These three tips above are also great for dark rough knees, hands and dark knuckles, feet and bikini/pubic areas. So you can do the exact same thing if you are trying to brighten the skin on your hands, feet and pubic regions.

4.  Opt for naturally made anti-perspirants and avoid spraying directly on your underarms. Hold sprays at least 6inches away from your underarms when you spray.

So there you have it ladies! I hope my routines help you achieve the results you need to to feel much more comfortable with your underarms. Consistence is key!
Do let us know what you have tried or trying by sharing in the comments section below.

Have fun, stay beautiful.

Please if you have your own tips which work kindly tell us..hugs

Just Can't Deal

We all have those friends who never check up on us for anything. Christmas comes and goes, Sallah, even your birthday comes and not a word from them. We are not surprised by this as we already know them too well.
Then one day, your phone rings and it's them calling. You know instantly that something is amiss because they never call you, well unless they need something.
There are also those friends that the only time they call you is when there is a party that they want you to attend with them( as a party animal).
Others call you only when they need some academic answers(be happy that they see you as an 'efiko'.lol).
Some friends call you when they need directions to some places(as an 'Ajala' that you are).
Other friends call you when they need advice on relationship or man/woman matters (you have become dr phil).
Some even call you when they have problem picking the right outfits for events that they alone are attending(they'v e turned you to Joan Rivers).

There are so many friends that once you see their calls, you know what it is about.

Many of us fall into these category of friends.
I don't want to make this a religious piece but a lot of us relate with God like this.
Are we not tired of just giving and giving in our friendships without our friends knowing that there should be more to friendship than what they make of it?

What do we do about these friends? Do we start ignoring them or we simply call them to order?

Do you have friends like these? How do you cope with them? Pls share your experiences so we can learn!

REVENGE PORNOGRAPHY

REVENGE PORNOGRAPHY (A Must Read)

It’s 11am on a Monday morning. You forgot your phone in one of the crevices of your bag. You had earlier left it on silence mode to ensure you do not disrupt the meeting that morning. When finally you remember you have one and may possibly have missed a number of calls, you lazily deep your hand in the bag.
After about three changes in hand positions, you eventually find it. It’s one of the newest brands in the market. You absent-mindedly draw the pattern that unlocks the phone. You get a ‘sorry, try again’ message.

You carefully draw the right one. Right there on your screen is a carefully lettered  – 56 missed calls. You are genuinely surprised. You notice another 22 text messages. You start by checking the messages and everyone of them seem to be hinting at something online you should react to or should have seen.

Five minutes after checking your messages and timeline on Facebook, you find it all there  – different pictures and a three-minute video of you in nude form.

You remember the pictures; they were the ones your ex-boyfriend took of you some years ago. You recall making the video yourself. You quickly squeeze the buttons of your phone and type the uniform resource locator of one of the leading entertainment blogs in the country in the address bar and you find the news there.

You check the comment section and there are already 1,004 comments at that time of the day. Your eyes are wet and you know life would never be the same again for you.

Revenge pornography, also called e-venge pornography, is fast trending as one of the quickest ways of getting a good pound of the flesh from a wronged lover. It entails online circulation of sexually explicit materials – videos, pictures or text – of a clearly mentioned or pictured individual with humiliation of the person as the goal of the distributor.

With revenge pornography, the culprit is usually a wronged lover or a hacker. The later happens in rare instances.

Unlike other anonymous pornographic materials online, revenge pornography makes the face of the act clear and ensures the name is also known. In some extremely harsh instances, the mobile contact, work details and home address of the pictured person are made available.

It first became more pronounced about three years ago.  As is usually the case, the pictures or videos are captured by the victims themselves or by the assailant with the consent of the victim when there was a warm relationship between both.

Since revenge pornography always has women as victims most times, it can also be right to describe it as sexual violence against women with the sole aim to embarrass, humiliate and degrade a woman sexually, if she is  career driven, she may be disgraced professionally.

The international legal firmament is already witnessing various fireworks to address the weak presence or outright absence of legislation around this. Some of the anti-revenge porn legislations are hoping in addition to criminalising revenge porn also target service providers whenever the actions of their users are misguided.

About two years ago, circumstance would bring a lady across my path. She was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She craved my intervention since I had faint knowledge of her may-soon-be assailant.

She had been in a relationship with him for years and they had seen it all including a number of abortions. When things circumstantially went sour between both of them, he threatened to make public her nude pictures in his possession.

He threatened to do so offline and online. The pictures were her gift to him on his birthday in one of the years they were together. They were taken privately while the romance lasted. Together with her, we went back and forth on possible solutions and remedies. I was to later introduce her to a social worker who had competence in such genre of sexual abuse.

She threw her expertise at the issue and in weeks, it was laid to rest. At least till this moment.            The internet would continue to grow. More smart phones would be added by the day making access to the internet instant and easy.

People would continue to fall in love. Humans would also continue to fall out of love and have heart breaks. Certainly, break ups can be bitter and painful. The memories shared together are what could become the tool in the case of retribution pornography.

And it has ruinous implications for the life of the victim. Asides the misdemeanour of the perpetrator, phones or digital storage devices with possible revenge pornography content may be misplaced ending up in the wrong hands.

Once it is online, you can never take it back. In the Web 2.0 age, it is clear that it is the law that has to continue trying to catch up with the loads of daily inventions in cyber space.

With revenge pornography, the pictures may also be published for the purpose of blackmail by jilted men. Since most victims never bother to seek redress through legal means especially, it may continue to be perceived as an issue not worthy of major attention.

Young people who engage in the act are also vulnerable. Sexting refers to the act of sending lewd images and words through text messages. With the internet, we all need to understand that once anything is sent, the chances of losing control over what happens to that content is huge.

With non-consensual pornography which intentionally inflicts emotional distress becoming a growing burden, it is up to people to protect themselves in addition to only engaging in relationships built on trust and a sizeable amount of caution.

Our offline well-being is now intricately linked to the lives we lead when we access the internet. The rule is simple – never send anything to anyone that may be used against you and never allow anyone take pictures or videos of you in private acts or intimate moments.

*please ladies, learn to say NO to nude pictures sending and sex-tape making. The society wont care about the men involved. The stigma is always on the women. A word is enough for the wise.

Just Before You Bleach

Are you wondering why this lady looks the way she does? Are you cussing in ur mind whoever it was that poured hot water or acid on her? Are u thinking it was makeup that went wrong? Are you thinking of the skin infections that she must have?...

ARE YOU THINKING OF BLEACHING?

If you are, this post is dedicated to you. If you are not, this post is dedicated to you still. In order words, you have to read this post whether you have bleached, are bleaching, are thinking of bleaching or you have decided never to bleach.

Why do people bleach/tone?
Some people obsess about whitening their skin because they just want to be seen as light skinned. Others look for skin whitening products because they have been struggling with acne scars and they they think the only way to overcome their acne problems is by being light-skinned.
Some only bleach their faces. Others bleach faces and bodies. Some forget to rub the cream on their necks and knuckles. That is why we see lots of fanta faces and coke body parts.

This bleaching practice occurs regardless of gender and level of education. It used to be a trend for only women but now, men have joined the lightening hussle and have refused to be left behind

Some bleach to 'look beautiful' while others believe that bleaching makes them stand out, thereby feeling special. Many believe that they can only attract the opposite sex by being light skinned.

According to the World Health Organization, 77percent of Nigerian women use skin lightening products. We are still waiting for the survey for the bleachinh men as they are not carrying last in this practice.

Experts believe that skin bleaching is a result of societal pressures and low self-esteem. Another reason is the popularity of the practice.

It all boils down to insecurity about one's self and poor self image. If you are not so beautiful as a dark person, being light-skinned cannot make you more beautiful. Beauty actually is from within!

Bleaching involves removing the melanin pigments of the skin which is actually on the skin to absorb ultraviolet light, thereby protecting humans from harmful ultraviolet radiation. So, removing the melanin with chemicals is one of the most potentially harmful things one could do to the body.
Most of the active agents in bleaching products include hydroquinone (which damages the connective tissues in the skin and cartilage), steroids, mercury, and lemon. Some people mix jik and hypo in their body creams. Some even go as far as using battery water.
People who continually use these bleaching products often end up witg rough blotchy skin. Then they get caught in the 'bleaching trap' and use more cream to try and correct the problem. They end up doing more damage.

Risks involved in bleaching are numerous and I will gladly list many of them here to effectively discourage you from bleaching. They include: premature skin aging, risk of skin cancer, fungal infections, scabies, skin-thinning, acne, skin infections, delayed wound healing, skin discolouration, and permanent stretch mark.
There are also neuroligical deficits to bleaching such as insomnia, irritability, neuropathies, and loss of memory. Eye problems such as glaucoma and cataracts. Also, adrenal insufficiency, kidney problems and hypertension are some of the complications that arise with bleaching.
Nursing mothers should not attempt bleaching because they stand a risk of passing mercury to their babies through breast-feeding.

I have to ask this question. Must we all be light-skinned? What happened to being unique in our differences. There are many races in the world and not all of them are light-skinned. What is the craze about?
Variety is what makes the world beautiful. We have to change our mindset. Let us all not be brighter than the future.
Incase you were thinking of mixing or buying that hypo, you should forget it right now, unless it is your clothes you are mixing it for.
Black is beautiful.

LASU to be re-opened! *sigh*

Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly visited the premises of the Lagos State University to view the extent of the damages caused by the riot the students had late last week over the closing of the school registration portal.
The legislators condemned the act of the students and pleaded with the school to open the portal for two days to enable the students finish their registrations.
Thank God that a peaceful resolution has been reached. Please let us all try to resolve disputes without violence. If a student had died in the protest, all they would do is a candlelight procession. Let's value our lives more.
To all those students who are still basking in the laziness caused by the strike, get up! School has started.

For How Long?

Procrastination is the act or habit of putting off or delaying or defering an action to a later time. Experts define it as to VOLUNTARILY delay an intended course of action despite expecting to be worse off for the delay. A procrastinative behaviour is counter-productive, needless and delaying.
Some people postpone tasks that they have to do because they believe that they work best under pressure.
Procrastination may result in stress, a sense of guilt and crisis, severe loss of personal productivity, as well as social disapproval for not meeting responsibilities or commitments.
Well, procrastination to some degrees, is normal but the moment it starts to impede normal functioning, it becomes a problem.

There are many styles of procrastination. Some of them are: Avoidance of where the task is to take place; intentional distraction in other things to prevent awareness of the task; trivialization of the task as not being that important; comparism of one's situation with that of another person in a worse situation; making a joke of one's situation; attributing the task to be done with a difficult status; pretending that it is not good to get an early start on a task; denying that one is procrastinating; laziness to do the required/desired task.

Also, inability to prioritise; anxiety about the task (you actually spend more time worrying rather than doing); overload of tasks at a specific time; difficulty concentrating; feeling overwhelmed by the task; being bored by the task; and poor time-management.
Some people have an "All or Nothing" mindset. Others avoid doing tasks just because they dislike the thing they have to do. Some have personal negative feelings while others have the fear of failure or not meeting personal standards.

Whichever category(ies) you fall into here, there is still hope for you. You know you cant put off the doing of some things forever.
Here are some tips to help you put off proscrastination from your 'to-do' list.
You have to develop better organizational and time-manegement skills and a clearer understanding of its personal or emotional meaning. You have to discover the ways of working that best suit you rather than copying someone else's style.
You must accept thay the task is yours to do as no one is coming to do it for you.
Take account of the sort of person you are, your values and expectations. Then assess whether your personality fits with the way you are trying to do the task. Find out if you need new approaches that make you more comfortable.
Work out why you procrastinate and ask yourself the golden question
"What Do I Gain From Proscrastinating?".
Identify goals and make realistic decisions about how to do the tasks, and prioritise.
Ensure you have the necessary equipments and information to tackle the task before you begin.
Your plans need to be flexible.
Break down the task into manageable bits.
Boost your motivation.
Dwell on your strengths. On tasks you have accomplished and feel good about, in order to remind yourself you can be successful.

Think of how much better you can and will feel when you dont have to worry about the task.
Reward yourself when you accomplish something.
Dont give up when you get stuck. Try another strategy

Quite often, procrastination is connected to anxieties about the quality of the work you hope(or fear) you will produce. At times like this, it is worth remembering that it is better to produce something rather than nothing.

No one is immune to procrastination. You just have to stand up and say Enough is Enough!
Dont leave till tomorrow, what you can do well today!

Have a blessed sunday, folks.

ok, this is funny

Lol.. have you guys encountered people like this on the escalator? I have oh! This lady was holding on for dear life and as soon as she stepped off the escalator, she did a little jog and shook off the the cramps and tension that being on the escalator gave her. I had to hold my laughter.
A friend of mine shared his experience about his first time on an escalator. He had just arrived the United States from Nigeria and he was at yhe Baltimore-Washington Airport in Maryland. He had two suitcases full of his belongings as he was relocating. He had to rake the escalator and he had never been on one. He looked at it and thought to himself, "how hard can it be?". Well, the escalator was making a descent and he didnt see any staircase nearby. So he stepped on the escalor while dragging his suitcases behind him. Lo and behold, he felt himself being pulled down and he didnt let go of the suitcases. Before he knew what was happening, he had tumbled down with his suitcases in tow. Airport officials had to go help him up. He got up and gathered his belongings and walked as fast as he could out of the terminal.

Lol! I still remember the look on his face when he was telling me.

If you have had any embarrassing escalator/elevator experience, feel free to share.

Dealing With Disappointing Artisans

We all have those artisans i.e. mechanics, carpenters, electricians etc, that will keep u waiting endlessley for them to come render services. Many times, these are services that you have even paid for.
Your mechanic comes, removes your car compressor and tells you he will be back the next day to fix whatever the problem with your car is. You put all you have have to do on hold and dedicate the next day to your mechanic. You wait all day the next day, but your mechanic doesnt deem it fit to make an appearance or place a call to explain whatever predicament he has found himself. First day, second day...till the fifth day!!! You call him and he keeps telling you stories. At some point he  chooses to reject your calls,as you have become a pest!
What do you do to this mechanic when he finally shows up?

Or the printer that you have paid to print on souvenirs for your dear friend's wedding. He tells you the souvenirs will be ready two days before the wedding and you put your mind at rest. On the appointed day, you visit the shop and you dont meet him. His apprentices say they dont know where he kept your souvenirs. You call him and he tells you to come back the next day. You go there early the next day, which is a day to the wedding and you meet the printer. Your goods are not ready and the printer has not even bothered to print
Mind you, you have made a 70 percent down payment. You express your disappointment and the printer tells you you can have your souvenirs and your money back.
Will you collect them knowing fully well that he has wasted your time? Or will you insist he prints? Or will you threaten to arrest him?
You make a fuss and people around the shop start begging. What will you do?

Many stories abound of artisans that intentionally decide to disappoint their customers.
Are you an artisan who does this? Why?
Are you a customer who has been disappointed? What did you do?

2015 Presidential Election To Hold On Valentine's Day....Oh My!

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the timetable of the 2015 general elections.
Two states, Ekiti and Osun are conducting theirs this year, Jube 21 and August 9, 2014 respectively.
The Presidential Election and that of the National Assembly is to hold on 14th February, 2015. Let's hope lovers will make out time to go and vote on that day. On another thought, I hope this is not a deliberate plot to minimize the number of voters on that day so that some elements can use that to their advantage.
The Gubernatorial elections and election of members of the 36 houses of assembly will hold on 28th February, 2015.
Let us all pray for a violence-free election.

Beggars; A Thorn In The Flesh?

There are many beggars on the streets. In Nigeria and indeed every other country however developed. The rate at which beggars increase on a daily basis is alarming! I mean, there are lots of people that beg but who do not need to!
Why do they beg? Because they cant provide for themselves? Or find someone to take care of their needs? What happened to working to earn a living?
There are many beggars who do not have any disability or ailment. They are just so darn lazy!!!
And have you heard the phrase "a beggar has no choice"? That is now a forgotten phrase. Many beggars now have choices. You give a beggar 10naira and he looks at you in disgust. Some of them even reject it. My sister once collected her money back from a beggar when he was complaining that the money she gave him was too small.
These beggars give birth to more children than those who feed them. Makes one wonder why they would want to bring children forth when they know very well that there is no means of livelihood, aside begging that is.
I remember an incident that happened when I was still young. There was this man that used to come beg at my mum's office. He was supposedly deaf and dumb. He would come around almost on a daily basis and people would give him money. On a particular day, someone went to visit my mum in the office and while the lady was there the deaf and  dumb guy arrived. The lady recognised him and called his nam
My mum told her he couldnt hear because he was deaf and dum and the lady started laughing. She informed my mum that she knew him very well and he was neither deaf nor dumb. She moved closer to him and called him again. The guy looked up in anger and moved on very fast. In a twinkle of an eye he took to his heels.
There are many 'beggars' like that.
Is there any reason for us to have beggars in our society? Are there no menial jobs these people can do? Many of these beggars are even so contented with getting free money that if presented with the opportunity to work, wont take the job.
Remember, there's nothing free in Freetown and No food for a lazy man.

Have You Been Raped?

Rape is the unlawful compelling of a person through physical force or duress to have sexual intercourse. It is not only a female that can get raped. Males too get raped, by females! Many individuals are not aware of this. People think only men rape, but women do too!
In some cases, people get raped and they won't even know that they were raped. This is because they are not aware of certain things.
For instance, a man and a woman choose to have sexual intercourse and they proceed with the act. Somehow before the intercourse starts or even after it starts, the woman loses interest and tells the man she wants to stop, the man has to stop. Refusal of the man to stop the intercourse constitutes 'Rape'.
It doesn't matter that they both agreed to it initially. The mere fact that the woman said NO and (meant it), has deprived the intercourse of its willing nature.
We know that some women say no in a way that does not connote a real No. That one, our hand is not there oh!
There is a way a woman (or a man) will say NO and the other person will grasp the seriousness of the matter.
So, if you have had sexual intercourse under the above-written conditions, I'm sorry to break it to you but you have been RAPED!!!
Now back to the matter, why do people rape?
What pleasure is it that they derive from the forcefulness?
What is it about an unwilling person that turns them on?
Why????
What????
I am not one to write lengthy pieces but I need answers. No, we need answers!!!

The Other Shoe

I love shoes but waiting for the other to drop is the part I hate about them.
I wish there were some way I could avoid that way of thinking, but sometimes your past does have a way of messing with your future.
I’m not looking for perfection, just a good match – the right to my left, the flip to my flop.
Cuz when the shoe fits, nothing feels better.
And its true that you may have to try on many pairs before you find which to invest in.
And it is an investment.

Or at least should be.

Shopping at jankara market, you shouldn’t be too surprised when the shoe falls apart.
Buying shoes because they were on sale, because you were having a bad day, without trying them on will usually lead to regret.
And you should never regret a shoe.

Shoes make you feel good and look good.
They can change your mood and your body.
They can change how you see and present yourself.
(There is a reason why they say to always put your best foot forward)

So is it no wonder that every girl is in search of the perfect shoe?
That we see each other as competition rather than someone who could help us find the right size?
Which is sad, because isn’t one of the best part of shoes is that one size doesn’t fit all?
That there is truly a match for everyone?

Sure there is disappointment when you see a shoe of beauty, but it doesn’t fit or its not in your size.
But perhaps it didn’t fit your budget or would have caused you more pain in the end.
And if there is one thing we’ve all done, is worn/bought a pair of shoes that didn’t fit.
Knowing fully well it wouldn’t get better down the road.
Convincing ourselves that it could.
Or that it would.

If only we tell in advance those flats cut, the heels break, the upper doesn’t stretch before we open up our…wallets. We could save ourselves some pain and heartache.

But then there are the hidden gems.
The sale shoe everyone overlooked.
The fave pair, go-to pumps that would never let you down.
The shoe you’ve repaired and put more money into than when you originally bought it.
The shoe that goes with everything.
The shoe that makes someone stop you and say: what a great match!
Those are the shoes we should be wearing.

They are the shoes who will stand with you, help you stay tall, keep you grounded, pointy in the right direction and well rounded, walk with you, run away with you, help you jump and soar.
They will support and keep you warm.
They will protect you from the storm.
They are good right down to the sole and up to your soul.

Don’t forget you have to take care of your shoes, if they are going to take care of you.
Protect them, appreciate them for what they can and cannot do.
After all, shoes is only one part of the outfit.

Maybe the Cinderella had it right, leaving a shoe behind so that instead of looking for it, it finds you.
And when it does, it may not be a seamless fit right away, like it is in the fairy tales.
You might need some time to become comfortable with it.
And there is nothing wrong with that.

Just remember, that if the shoe fits: you must wear it
Wear it well.
Wear it with pride.
Wear it with love.

I totally love this piece!!!

Ladies, get in here!!!

Let's share some 'recipes'...lol.

Dark Side of Light

I don’t plan on writing much.. So there aren’t really enough free words to woo you into my current state of mind. Sorry…
"I’m an adult, I can do whatever I like" "I pay the bills around here, so nobody can tell me shit" "it’s a free world" "who cares, it doesn’t really matter"
If u recognize any of the above phrases either as a user or a ‘usee’ then u must have lost sleep at some point for the actions that came right after the use of them. One experience is enough for you to understand the undesirability and moral corruption that emanates from the end actions of these rather ‘killer’ phrases.
I have learnt the hard way that the euphoria derived from the satisfaction of recklessness towards other humans is like an illuminated tunnel, at the end of which is a dark reality comprising of restlessness, malaise, depression and  anxiety.
There’s a reason your creator didn’t drop you in the middle of the desert or the Kilimanjaro mountains, there’s a reason you were born through a process like every other human, there also is a reason you don’t have a type of gas peculiar to you for your survival its same oxygen that you share with All the other ‘nonentities’ whose feelings you disregard whenever you use one or more of those phrases and many more of its kind. That reason is in my opinion and for the purpose of this text is "COEXISTENCE"
Depression which I choose to use rather loosely in this text is no doubt a health condition when you have to engage the services of medical practitioners to curb it. However, if your depressed being at a particular instance can be fixed by speaking to a loved one, listening to music or engaging in other humanly activities  then my dear just like me the universe owns you and you have no right whatsoever to use those "killer" phrases as a lot of humans depend on your actions to save them from possible suicide.
"I DON’T EVER GET DEPRESSED, SO THIS ISNT FOR ME"
Depression is simply a period of unhappiness or low morale, just like our fingers and our individual problems, the length of this period is not uniform. As a human who has attained the age of accountability, have you never had bouts of depression?  If NO, then I’m sorry u came across this, it is truly not for you and the percentage of your kind as against the population of humans is so minute that you deserve to leave earth before your impeccable soul is corrupted.
There is no escaping. Not alcohol, Not cigarettes, Not any of the substances that are used to induce euphoria. Its needless to say that their effects are temporal. Its pretty simple. LIVE YOUR LIFE FOR YOURSELF AND FOR AN IRRELEVANT OTHER. For you have not truly given or loved until you give or love someone who cannot in any way repay you. And when you reminisce your good deeds and smile, you subconsciously have reduced your "period of unhappiness and low morale".
I HAVE SAID TOO MUCH ALREADY. IF YOU DON’T GET IT YET, THEN YOUR SOUL IS IRRETRIEVABLY LOST. WE WILL FIND IT AND MOISTEN IT. AS LONG AS YOU STILL WANT TO BREATHE OUR AIR.
